We have been so blessed by the new reading curriculum at Little Lambs. Our newly adopted daughter from China (5 1/2 and speaking only Mandarin when she arrived in the US) has been able to work with Dr. Pergande 1-on-1 using the Sound Circle Program. She is excited to practice the skills she is learning and also utilize the concepts of the Sound Circle Program while we are reading.  We have seen an explosion of growth in both her receptive and expressive language since starting the program!       Megyn Baer‍ ‍

‍ It’s been a pleasure to have Vivian at Little Lambs and have J.L. as her teacher.  Vivian has grown tremendously as a reader and her writer.   She went from knowing the alphabet to knowing all the sounds, ability to spell out words and ability to read and write.  She has blossomed and the technique used by her teachers is wonderful and very beneficial. I have been so pleased with the education my daughter has received! I’m truly happy that we chose to go to Little Lambs for her preschool education. She has received an amazing education and I would recommend Little Lambs.  The staff and teachers are AMAZING!!! Before I tell 'my story,’ I'd like to reveal a little bit of my background to help you understand why I was so willing to share with you my family's issues and needs.  I was in the Insurance Industry for 49 years and was verycareful regarding whom I would recommend when asked by my clients, as it was also my reputation that was 'on the line'. 

I am a great-grandmother of a 10 y.o. who lives 900 miles away. During this 5th grade school year, her reading grade plummeted in one semester from an A down to a D-.  She had been an A-B student from the beginning of Elementary School. Her parents were convinced, with no professional intervention, that she had ADHD and proceeded to 'pound' this into her. She went from loving school to dreading it. During a Bible study, I asked for prayer for her. Afterward, one of the ladies told me about her friend who worked with both children & adults with reading challenges.  When I reached out to Krisann, she immediately took an interest in our 'little family.' She had us send a videotape my great-grand reading with a photo of what she had read. 

Krisann quickly identified the problem. Krisann then gave some practical advice and suggestions as to what my great-grand could do. After putting these suggestions into practice for three weeks, my great-grand's midterm reading grade went from a D- to a B-. The joy of attending school has recaptured her heart! I could go on and on here, but suffice it to say that without Krisann's willingness to become involved in this 'rather dysfunctional family,' the eventual outcome would have been drastically different.  Krisann regularly asks about my great-grand when we communicate, and prays for her as well. The passion, love (for those she has never met, and probably never will!!), care and desire to help others that pours out of Krisann is a testimony as to how she uses and shares her God given gifts with those whom she can help.  I am eternally grateful for her heart and willingness to take the time to invest in my family!!! I have been blessed with an incredible career and opportunities in healthcare as a practicing Breast Surgical Oncologist who is also involved in leadership. While leadership opportunities were tremendous, they (and the COVID chaos) took time and energy away from completing my boards as I approached the deadline of being Board Eligible. To become Board Certified I needed to complete and pass both the written and oral exams in general surgery. However, I had minimal exposure to general surgery in my daily work as a fellowship trained Breast Surgical Oncologist. 

As I began my journey to become Board Certified, it was clear that most of my preparation would need to focus on general surgery and I realized how far away I was from it. I looked forward to refamiliarizing myself with the many aspects of general surgery (which I still love) and found it both daunting and exciting. As I was preparing for these exams, I was also working full time as a Breast Surgical Oncologist, along with being a Physician Leader and Entrepreneur.

Having Krisann as my study coach was a game changer and hugely increased the probability of my passing both written and oral exams (which I did, thank God). Krisann was able to help me create a game plan, taking into account my limited time and energy. She helped me identify the areas in which I needed the most help while blending that with how I learn best (at this particular junction in my life). In addition, learning for the written exam is very different from the oral exam, and she helped me pivot between those different styles. 

 The key components for success on both exams were practice, consistency…and accountability to do both. For both written and oral exams we came up with a timeline that was well buffered, in case things fell behind. Another aspect that contributed to my success while working with Krisann was working together to strategically identify the areas on which I should spend my time and energy...essentially high yield aspects. When needed, Krisann also provided the emotional and spiritual support that made a huge difference and helped me to persevere.

Preparing for these tests will be a roller coaster, but having a dedicated coach like Krisann who is invested in your success and your journey will make a huge difference!!! In fact, it is a game changer. T.H.
